You know how our elders used to suggest a walk after a big meal? Well, there’s a good reason for that! It’s because it can aid in improving digestion. A study conducted at Washington University School also found that people who regularly exercised for at least ten years had the least risk of death related to colon cancer.
The first author of this study, Dr. Kathleen Wolin, said that even though the benefits were maximized in those exercised over a larger period of their life, that exercise didn’t have to be as vigorous as running marathons or working out for hours. “You get enormous ‘bang for the buck,'” she said. “You go for a 30-minute walk every day and you’re going to reduce your risk of a number of diseases.”
