5. Protein Powders
Protein powders are pretty popular among fitness buffs because they provide a good boost of energy while reducing the amount of calories. But, this otherwise healthy food can have an unfortunate side effect: acne!
Women’s Health magazine writes, “Dr. Gohara and her colleagues are anecdotally seeing an uptick in acne among women who drink shakes and smoothies spiked with whey protein. There is some research to back it up; one study followed 30 participants on a daily whey regimen for two months and found that female subjects were most susceptible to breakouts.”
Bu, as we can see from Dr. Gohara’s reports, it’s only the whey protein powder. So you might want to consider switching to other types of protein powders for your post workout boost.
