Laurence Olivier is one of the most famous actors of all time, making history as a member of British film and stage productions. Before he gained that renown, Olivier was a member of the British Royal Navy. He had a slight buzz going before he enlisted, but he put his acting aside to join the Navy during WWII.

He served as a Lieutenant RNVR in the British Fleet Air Arm. During his Naval career, he allegedly mangled three planes on various bombing missions. Later, he would run afoul of the Royal Navy Sea Lords because of his track record for demolishing planes.
