Rapper Freddie Gibbs is a talented musician, but his talent for the Army was less-than-stellar. When he was nineteen, Gibbs got into trouble with the law. He had both a theft charge and a gun charge, and neither looked good for him. His lawyer knew an Army recruiter, and they worked out a deal with the court.

Gibbs had to complete boot camp and enlist in the Army in order to avoid jail. Gibbs agreed, and he finished boot camp and was stationed at South Carolina’s Fort Jackson. Gibbs would be dishonorably discharged for smoking marijuana while stationed there.
