Actor Ernest Borgnine would actually serve in the Navy twice. He first joined in 1935 after he graduated high school. He was discharged in ’41, but, after Pearl Harbor, he reenlisted and served in WWII until 1945. Borgnine would reach the rank of gunner’s mate first class.
