Jerry Mathers reached the rank of Sergeant in the US Air Force National Guard. He served from 1967 until 1969. After leaving the military, which he joined while still in high school, he attended the University of California’s Berkeley campus. He graduated in 1973 with his bachelor’s degree in philosophy.

Undoubtedly, Mathers’ most famous role was Theodore Cleaver, the youngest son of Ward and June Cleaver and Wally Cleaver’s brother. He starred in Leave it to Beaver, as well as the spinoff, The New Leave it to Beaver. He is married to actress Teresa Modnick. They wed in 2011.
