Actor Sherman Hemsley dropped out of school to join the Air Force. He later said that he never thought he wanted to be an actor until after he was in the Air Force. Hemsley, who was interred at Texas’ Fort Bliss National Cemetery, as befitting his rank, was most famous for his role on The Jeffersons.
