3. Shellfish
Shellfish in general can provide a lot of benefits to our bodies, and they can taste so good! But eating shellfish can have an adverse effect on certain people and cause them to have skin allergies, acne, and breakouts. While iodine is an essential mineral that the body’s thyroid hormones need in order to function properly, other proteins in shellfish can trigger allergies in people.
In fact, certain people are so allergic to food like crab, shrimp, lobster, etc (crustaceans), that they don’t even have to eat it to break out in hives. Even having it being cooked near them can cause serious skin issues as the allergens are able to travel through the air.
So, if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions, it might be better for you to stay away from such seafood. Other shellfish like clams, scallops, oysters, and mussels (mollusks) are less known to cause such an adverse reaction, and oily fish are actually known to give you clear skin, so you should still be able to eat those.
