Clean Your Iron With Salt

If you accidentally run your clothing iron over a stain – you don’t have to be doomed to staining any further items of clothing. Simply get rid of the gunk using salt. Salt will not melt even if it touches a hot iron because it has a melting point of 1,473°F while your iron only goes up to 445°F at most. Therefore, it won’t melt and adhere to the iron, but scrub off any lingering residue.

Sprinkle some salt on a piece of paper and run a warm iron over it. Then turn the heat off and let it cool, after which you can wipe the gunk off with a soft cloth.
